November/December 2009

Dear Pastor and Church Family,

Well, the snow has finally melted. The winter weather here in Scotland has been pretty bad. It has not been heavy snow, but since December 5th we have had more than 20 days of snow this winter. We started holding services in our home on December 4th, but with the all the snow not much has happened yet. Because of the bad weather, several churches here were not able to hold services for a couple of weeks. As soon as the bad weather started, we all ended up sick again. Paul has finally been diagnosed with asthma. He takes an inhaler twice a day year round now. Barbara had laryngitis, but is doing better. On top of that, my eardrum ruptured about a week ago. Most of my hearing has come back, but my ear still hurts. Also, we spent last Sunday morning in the Emergency Room with Annie. She also had a bad ear infection. It has been a stressful couple of weeks, but things are looking up.

As mentioned in our last prayer letter, the radio ministry is still a “no-go”, but the good news is that I might be starting my training again in a couple of weeks. So, it might still happen after all. I guess prayer REALLY works! Also, be in prayer about our services here at our house. We plan to distribute flyers in the next few weeks, but our house is really small. At the most, we might be able to fit 15 people in our home for services. As we stated in our last prayer letter, we are still in need of more monthly support to rent a building. To help put things in perspective, we lost over $300/month in support over the last year. That is a loss of over $3,600 this year! We really covet your prayers for this matter.

Another big prayer request is our Visa situation. We are due to renew our Visa by August 1. Since we arrived in Scotland in September of 2008, the Visa laws have changed. Now we need a sponsor to stay in the country. As far as the UK government is concerned, the sponsor would be like our employer. Our original Visa was for “missionary” work. They no longer have the “missionary” category that we were originally approved for. So now, we have to apply as a “minister of religion”. Because the Visa laws are new, there is currently only one church here in the UK that has the willingness and ability to sponsor to us. Without the sponsorship we would be required to leave the country. We appreciate your prayers as we are communicating with them regarding the possibility of sponsorship. As always, continue to pray for us as we labor for the Lord.

Taking the Gospel back to Scotland,
