Personal Testimony of Keith Harris

I was not raised in a Christian home, but the Lord used the bus ministry of Central Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to bring me to church. I used church as a way to escape from home. When I was 15, things got really rough at my home, so I decided to take my own life. While in the bathroom ready to commit suicide, I asked myself the question, “Where will I go when I die?” It was then that I realized I wasn't saved.

The next day, January 15, 1997, before church started, I pulled my youth pastor to the side and told him I needed to get saved. Spiritually, I did take my life that night. God gave me a new one! Shortly thereafter a missionary from Scotland came to our church. I knew then that God was calling me. From then on I could never get Scotland out of my mind. Every time I saw or heard a missionary, I would think of Scotland.

I enrolled at Heartland Baptist Bible College in 2000 and graduated in May of 2004 with a degree in Biblical Studies with emphasis in Missions. While at HBBC, I met my wife, Barbara. We both knew that God wanted us together, but we were unsure about where. During a missions conference at Southwest Baptist Church, we settled it. The same missionary to Scotland that came to my church shortly after I got saved was in that conference. It was affirmation from the Lord that Scotland was where He wanted us.

Personal Testimony of Barbara Harris

I was raised in a Christian home, and when I was 5 years old I made a profession of faith. But it wasn’t until I was 11 that I made my profession a possession. It seems I always knew God wanted me to be a missionary. I always had a fascination with Europe. When I was in high school I got the opportunity to go on a tour of Europe to sing. The Lord burdened my heart even more. My favorite place was London. As I went to college, I thought God would end up sending me and my husband to England.

I met Keith at Heartland Baptist Bible College. We started dating in our sophomore year. During that time we talked about what God wanted in our lives. Keith was a missions major looking at going to Scotland, but he wasn’t sure. During that year’s missions conference, we had both been praying for what God wanted. That year that our calling was settled: we were going to Scotland. We graduated in May 2004 from HBBC and went to intern at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, my home church.

During our internship we got to go to Scotland on our survey trip. We came home from the trip with a greater burden. I’m excited that God has called us to Scotland and I am thrilled about what He is going to do through us!
